Service Description

This course is designed to support those who are involved in the solid fuel industry to help lessen the environmental impact of emissions or undertake smoke nuisance investigations from the use of biomass and solid fuels as a domestic heat source. The successful candidate will be equipped with a thorough understanding of the combustion process, fuels, the importance of appropriate and correct installation, end user operation, and why the correct and regular maintenance of chimneys, flues, and appliances is critical to their use. The course will provide the candidate with the knowledge, its application and skillset to identify and provide solutions to assist in the reduction of the environmental impact across all combustion appliances, and fuels when emissions, smoke, , or the smell of smoke is an issue. Who should attend? ➟ Environmental health practitioners, housing practitioners, building control practitioners ➟ All those involved in the Solid Fuel Industry ➟ All other colleague professionals from partnership organisations, both in the public and private sectors, with an active responsibility in reducing emissions, smoke nuisance investigations, and work related to installation, operation, and maintenance of chimney/flues, and combustion appliances.
