NVQ Pathway
Our mission at Chimney Skills Training is to provide a pathway through the NVQ to move chimney sweeps and chimney engineering to a formally recognised trade status within a friendly but highly professional environment. Our focus is to empower the chimney associated trades by providing the necessary resources, tools, and knowledge through formal qualification to help the individual to address the industries and markets changing goals. With our uniquely practical and straightforward approach, participants can help define the occupation, gain true professional trade status, create and safeguard a world class solid fuel industry for the future.
OUR COURSES & PROGRAMS
Creating and Safeguarding a World Class Solid Fuel Industry for the Future
There are nineteen short duration courses (1-3 days) crossing over from chimney engineering and chimney sweeping which have been added to the CITB Construction Training Directory. Candidates completing any of the courses will appear on the CITB Central Register along with the relevant NVQ which will be replicated on the new trade specific CSCS Smart Card.
These new training standards represent a significant step forward to the individual’s and the industry’s journey to recognised trade status.

CSCS TRADE CARD
CSCS is one of the leading skills certification scheme within the UK . CSCS cards provide proof that individuals have the required training and qualifications for the type of occupational work they carry out. The Scheme keeps a database of people who have achieved or are committed to achieving a recognised trade related qualification.

You are exemption from taking a CITB Health, Safety & Environment test If you have achieved the applicable related trade NVQ or SVQ within the last 2 years. IMPORTANT UPDATE this is to change in September 2019 after which you will be required to sit the CSCS H&S online test!

NVQ (OSAT): CHIMNEY SWEEPING & CHIMNEY ENGINEERING
Our goal is to empower the individual and the trade through the provision of a formally recognised qualification reflecting the skills and the application of the underlying knowledge of the occupations of Chimney Sweeping & Chimney Engineering. The Onsite Assessment and Training (OSAT) pathway to the NVQ is for the experienced worker and provides a great way to continue your career journey and gain official trade status finally bringing recognition to the sector as a skilled, and specialist artisan trade.
We often find that those who enrol for the NVQ program are unaware of their own capabilities, knowledge, and skills, and through this qualification and other stakeholders, we intend to change the perception of the industry within the general public.
